What Capsule is

Capsule is a journal and a way to seal messages until a later moment. It is not a medical or mental-health service and gives no diagnosis or treatment advice. If you are in crisis, contact local emergency services or a helpline such as 988 in the US.

Your content

What you record stays yours. You give us only the permission needed to process it as described in the Privacy Policy. Sealed entries can't be edited or deleted one by one; you can delete your whole account at any time.

Pen pals and capsules for others

Pen pals are for adults 18 and over. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users: do not send anything hateful, harassing, threatening, sexual, violent or illegal, and do not share anyone's personal contact details. You can block and report any pen pal in the app. We review reports within 24 hours, remove offending content and pause or remove accounts that break these rules. The same rules apply to capsules you send to other people.

Subscriptions

Capsule Plus is available as a monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, in your Apple account settings. Your journal stays readable and exportable on the Free plan.

Lifetime means for as long as Capsule is offered: one payment gives you Capsule Plus without renewals until the service closes, not for your own lifetime or forever. If the service closes, lifetime access ends with it.

The service

We work to keep Capsule running and your capsules safe until their moment. If Capsule ever has to close, we will tell you in the app and by email at least six months before the service stops, and follow the promise in the app under Settings, About, "If Capsule closes": your journal stays exportable, and capsules you sealed for yourself move onto your phone and keep their dates. Capsule is provided as is, without warranties, to the extent the law allows, and our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the last twelve months.

Changes

We may update these terms and will say so in the app when the change matters to you.
